I am a 29 year old married mother of 2 young children. My father came to live with us in Jan. after not seeing him for 10 years. We knew that he was sick just not to what extent. When he got here we went to the hospital within days and were told that he was in late stage of cirohiss
(well they think because he needs a liver biop, but can't get one because of insurance which we are waiting on)
Anyways since he's been here I have had to quit my job to take care of him. We have done two one week hospital stays since.
They removed over 6 liters of fluid in jan. And in Feb said that he has atleast a liter but it is in the middle which is really hard to get to. They have put him on lactulose to drink 4 times a day and be given 2 enimas a day. He's never all there but some days are better than others. Most of the time he does not know that i'm not his ex-wife, but his daughter. Latley he has gotten physical with me. I don't know much about the disease but they did say if he did not quit drinking that he had less than a year, which he did as of jan14. I feel like i am losing my mind. I don't know what to do anymore and until the insurance starts there is no help except for my husband. I try to put it all in god's hands but its very hard with this disease.
If anyone has any advice, please. I guess it just feels good to know that there are people out there that really understand, because everyone i try to talk to about it thinks that its not that bad or that i'm exaggerating.
The latest was this morning at 6am he opened the front door and was yelling through the security door (which was locked) to call the police we have locked him in here and been gone for days. There was 2 neighbors on my front porch by the time I heard it all and ran out of the bed.
