I don't know where to begin. My husband has end stage liver disease. We found out because his belly was swollen so bad. He went to the hospital and was drained and that is when we found out. He is 60 years old and is from the UK. He has been drinking since he was young. Of course now he doesn't drink at all. We live in Arizona and have no medical coverage the state of AZ won't help because he has been here since 2003 but didn't get his green card until 2006. He applied in 2003 to become a Permanent Residence but the waiting and was given an appointment in 2006 then he got his green card. Because he does not have his green card for five years unless he has children which at 60 years old his kids would be grown anyway. AZ won't provide any medical assistance. We are paying what we can to the hospital bills that have come in already etc. No insurance and im told he can't even be tested or put on a waiting list for a liver because he has no insurance. The doctor told us he needs a liver. I don't know what to do. I guess what I am trying to ask is there any organization or clinic or something that can help us. I looked up so much stuff on the computer but I am getting nowhere fast. I feel helpless and don't know what to do.
Thanks for listening and for any information anyone might be able to suggest.
