If my bodyfriends antibody test shows exposuree to hep c,, but his viral test is negative, does that mean he does not have hep c infection now? his doctor toldd him he was exposed but fought it off. Is that correct?

  • typically, the dr. is right. the virus is always going to be in his system, so technically he will always have it. it is not something that will go away. but if the viral load is so low that it is undetectable or neg., then that means there is so little of the virus in them that it is basically not really there. your freind should have routine testing every year to make sure that it stays that way. your friend is in a good position, and shouldn't worry. i have hep c and went through harsh treatments to get where your friend is now. that is the best place for them, other than not having hep c or being exposed in the first place. hope it helps!
