i was diagnosed with liver disease (cirrhosis of the liver) at age 15, from another disease called Cystic Fibrosis. I dont have liver disease from drinking at all. But anyways, I'm 18 now and also have Portal hypertention from liver disease, which means i have high blood pressure in my portal vein, so my veins can burst at any time. But neways, does anybody else this young have this too? Or does anybody know how long the live expectancy for this is? until a liver transplant is nessessary, that is.

  • Have they not given you a name for your liver disease .Your symptoms could apply to many liver diseases .Lupus, Sarcoidosis ,Sceroderma ,Autoimmune hepatitis as well as Primary Biliary Cirrhosis .I was dx,ed with the latter nearly seventeen years ago and was then given five years to transplant or death . I have not had a transplant and I am still here .It was once thought that PBC only affected women between 30 and 60 years of age ,but now the people being dx'ed with this disease are getting younger and younger in fact they have recently had a baby that was born with it . With the right medication Ursodeoxycholic Acid you will live for many years .Furthmore the researchers are very close to knowing the cause which in turn will also lead to them finding the cure . Take good care of yourself and try to keep positive .Hugs Brenda
