My fiancee's father is an alcoholic and had been drinking for many many years. Of course with an alcoholic, they are in denial of their problems. I see a big difference from when I first met him 1 1/2 years ago til now. He drinks everyday, drinking a 30 pack plus on the weekends. Lately I have notice that it only takes 4 beers and he is tipping over, gets awnry, and confused at times. He does still work, so the only time he is not with a beer in his hand is from 8pm to 3 the next day. During the week, he drinks like 2 bottles of water a day, the rest is beer. On weekends he drinks ONLY beer. His hands have been cramping bad lately and recently he has been getting sick. Like tonight for instance he threw up twice, was hot, did not feel good. My fiancee and I do think that he has a yellow tint to him. He is stubborn, has a negative attitude and says that he wont make it to his 60th birthday. (Which is in September) Could it just be that he is dehydrated, and nausea from not eating all day then drinking on empty stomach? Or is it really what I think and his liver failing? lilOme

  • I am sorry to hear about your father in law. The denial sounds a lot like my husband. I would suggest doing whatever it takes to get him to go to the Dr right away. My husband had same symptoms. Didn't take much to get drunk, vomiting, confusion. Also large mid section, spider veins, dark urine, muscle loss. Then one day he turned yellow. That is when I finally talked him into going to the Dr and he was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. He was very sick for a while, but he is doing much better. They have got to quit drinking. Educate yourself as much as you can on liver cirrhosis so you know the symptoms and what can happen..Whatever you do try and get him to go to the Dr.Good luck & my prayers are with you,ConnieMy fiancee's father is an alcoholic and had been drinking for many many years.
