about 1 month ago (mid march) i fractured my left ankle and suffered a complete rupture to the medial ligament. I underwent open reduction and internal fixation of the fracture and repair of the ruptured ligament. 6 pins and 1 plate were inserted into the ankle. Im due to start a ski instructor course in new zealand in july which will be about four months since the incident. Does anyone have any views on whether it will be possibe to do the ski course? Bearing in mind the ankle should remain relatively fixed within the boot. The doctors seem to remain on the fence at whether it will be possible to do.
Cheers

  • I would skip it if i were you, your ankle will have to bear the weight of your body for the rest of your life, any ankle fracture is a serious injury, and if it does not heal well you could be facing a fusion, which will limit your ability to walk, and play sport in the future.

  • I agree, you should let your ankle heal. Also, try acupuncture to help speed the healing - this is wonderful for promoting the healing of tissues and stopping pain. To find a practitioner near you visit www.acufinder.com. Best wishesDOM
