Hello, over the past month I have developed a small bump on my left knee. The bump is actually more like a dime- sized knot. If the top of my knee cap is the 12 o'clock position then the knot is located around the 7 o'clock position of the knee cap. There is no pain when just going about my everyday business, but has began to get sore after hard cardio workouts and after long swims. Also, there is no pain when I press down on the knot; however, as a play around with it and press down on it, there is a numbing feeling in the area of the knot. Another aspect about the knot is that it's completely isolated away from my knee, which means I can pinch my fingers underneath the knot.
I've done research, but have found nothing to understand what this condition could be. I'd like to avoid a doctor visit if I can find some insight as to what it could be. I'm heavy into cardio and hard training and believe that it could be related to over using and upponing my mileage by the week too quickly. However, it still worries me not knowing what it is because I've had bad luck with injuries in the past. I never come out of a doctor visit with good news it seems.
If anybody out there has an idea of what it could be, I would tremendously appreciate it. If I didn't do a good job of explaining my condition, just say so and I will try to do a better job. Thank you
