Three years after breaking tibia and fibula I still get knee and leg pain why?

Because of my age (64) my broken tibia,fibula & patella where not operated one. After a week in hospital I was sent home in a knee braise & was in a wheelchair for months. After much physio I can walk again but get severe knee pain after exercise & frequent fibula discomfort. The physio can do no more for me so what happens now
