meniscus recovery

wow what a great site i happened apon.just had leftknee meniscus repair,was under the impression after a few days (3) i would be up and running.but its been 1 week to the day and im still on crutches,having pains while in bed.it swells up early,i ice it down at night.the swelling reduces by morn.It is really hard to get moving after i sit for awhile.Am i just being too impatient.does someone have some enlightening advice

  • how active were you prior to the surgery? It really just depends on how quickly your body is able to heal... I'd try to give it some more time.

  • thanks for the reply.its been,2 months since surgery,still have pain sometimes its not bad.I still walk with a limp,been doing 12 sessions of pt so far.I was'nt really very active before surgery.I'm 49 but alway on wy feet,not laxy.most of the pain is inside just below the knee (left knee).

  • I'm a strong recreational cyclist - race beginner level criterions and Sport level mtn bike race. Had surgery Tuesday of last week road 2 - 10 minute sessions on spin cycle next day built up to 15 mile ride outside on sat and sunday. knee felt a little sore today but was able to do 30 minutes in spin this morning...
