My 11 year old daughter dances competitively. About a month ago, she injured her knee while dancing. She did not fall on it so there is no question of a broken bone. To make a long story short, we have taken her to see an orthopedic surgeon who finally ordered an MRI. The MRI showed basically nothing except some swelling in the fat pad and a cortical desmoid tug lesion. (whatever that is) She has been advised to use Bengay and ibuprofen for pain and the doc has ordered PT. She can continue dancing. She went to dance practice tonight and is in so much pain she is in tears. She has applied the bengay and taken the ibuprofen. I just spoke with the physician's assistant and he basically told me that it sounds as if there is nothing wrong (based on the results I told him of the MRI) This is a child who does NOT normally complain of aches and pains.
I am so frustrated. I feel like she is not being taken seriously. Does anyone have any ideas? Am I overreacting? Are we missing something? What do I do?
