I have a problem with my knee and the doctors say there is nothing wrong. I'm getting frustrated because I've been waiting about 3 weeks and then they simply say nothing. It had been slightly hurting when i positioned it certain ways for a couple of months but then a couple of weeks ago my knee "locked" while i was sleeping on my side. It hurt terribly. After that my knee has been hurting and it has gone up and down. it has been better the last couple of days but i have not been doing activities except walking and I've been wearing a knee brace. What I feel is a very large discomfort in almost any position, like there is a heavy weight on my knee and i feel some relief when i bend my knee completely to my chest. Then I also get sudden sharp pains on the inner side of my knee and sometimes what feels like a tendon on the side of my lower leg clicks and this really hurts. It's a sharp, terrible but quick pain. My knee is also very sensitive under the knee cap. It was also clicking and making alot of sounds when i would move the knee around. The only thing I don't have is visible swelling. So I had an MRI done and when we called they said there was a swelling or something and then when i went to the Dr today she said there was nothing wrong..I HAD to say that they said it was at least swollen and she was like-oh yea, there was some swelling...this alone made me distrust her bc she didn't even consider swelling like something. When I asked then why did my knee lock and the clicking, etc and she just keeps saying the mri didnt show anything. What is wrong with my knee! I don't trust them...because according to them I guess your knee locking while sleeping and sharp pains and clicking all the time is normal

  • I don't have any idea of what could be wrong with your knee, but I advise you to either switch doctors or advocate for yourself with that doctor.I understand how it feels to be distrustful of doctors - I have very real, very debilitating pain in my knee (as well as the clicking that you describe), and doctors have told me that "nothing is wrong" before. Bull. Pain means that something is wrong - don't tell me that nothing is wrong when I'm unable to walk normally because I am in so much pain.

  • I have the same persistant pain in my knees, the popping locking & pain have now spread to my jaw, wrists and hips. I've also been told by doctors not to worry its simply a weak leg muscle pulling my knee cap into an uncomofortable position, the pain lasted years without relief from over the counter meds. I also do not trust this is a simple problem. The worsening joint pain has now led to other uncomfortable symptoms which are possibly related to this condition. It has become harder and harder to even walk & I have begun to feel my knees will buckle backwards even while lying flat. If you truly feel your knee pain is abnormal i would continue seeking medical advice. I have finally been referred to a rheumatologist & am hoping for some real help.
