my dad is 75 and diabetic he has stage four renal failure and is not in good health, what signs should I look out for to show that he is going into stage 5 renal failure, his specialist say that this is very likely to happen. My mum died a year ago and dad was diagnosed shortly after he is not helping as he does not wish to be here without my mum. His blood pressure is really high 202/89 most of the time even with high doses of medication.

  • Hi I have been on dialysis for 1 year now and before I needed dialysis I had plenty of symptoms. 1.Lethargy and sleeping for 19-24 hrs if I was able too.2.Itchy skin (puritius) due to the build up of phosphrous in the body.3.Decreased Urine Output 4.Edema (Fluid Build-Up) Most noticable in the legs.5.Lab values. My creatinine was 2.5 untill I failed to a 8.5 so have monthly blood tests if the Dr is closely monitoring him. Good Luck Hope this helps
