Pain and blood in urine - quite worried

Hi

I've been reading through a number of threads on here as I've had quite some time on my hand over the holidays to worry!

I should start by saying I'm a 30yo male, smoke occasionally and I am overweight - I have had no previous medical problems other than quite high bp (around 140/90).

I went to the doctor last week as I was having testicular pain that seemed to radiate into my right leg. Its a pain a remember having before (dull ache) but someone I spoke to said it could be a UTI so I decided to have it checked out. The doctor checked my abdomen and groin and found nothing wrong. He did a dip urine test which he said showed trace blood- also my bp was a bit higher than my normal (147/94). I have now been referred for a blood test and full urine test.

I didn't think of this at the time but for a few years I've had right flank pain that was originally diagnosed as muscular and I've tended to ignore it since. The pain is mainly when i'm sitting/lying in one position for long periods and getting up and walking about generally makes it go. Its quite a sharp pain like the stitch you get after running to start with and then kind of becomes a bit dull as it dies down - but I wouldn't rate it very highly on the 'pain scale' perhaps 5 or 6. Recently we moved office and I had a new chair and the pain has occurred more - but again I just put this down to the chair (I have very bad posture).

I'm a little worried about this and wondered if this symptoms would look like anything anyone here has seen - or is there anything else I should be looking out for/asking my doctor.

Thanks in advance

C x

  • I too face the exact same problems. i have been to 3 different urologists and they all say the same thing it isnt anything wrong in the urology area. i then went to my regular doctors and they say its urologic. so i have been bounced back and forth and the entire time i am in pain. i have had to make so many Emergency room visits that the ER Doc's are thinking (which they actually came out and said it to me) that i am addicted to pain medication. I FINALLY found a Doctor( i am in the army ) which just so happen to be a Colonel and she was a urologists. she told me that since i have had so many UTI's and recurrent kidney stones that my kidney is not the normal size and it is causing the muscles around my kidney to cramp and be in constant pain. you may need to see a urologist and have them check the size of your kidney's
