Whenever I try to eat low carb (40-80g per day) I can always tell if my carb intake is too low because my kidneys hurt. If i raise my carb level the pain stops. I actually have to eat more carbs then I want to because of this. Does anyone know the medical reasons for this?

Does anyone know the medical reasons for this?Listen to your body.Protein molecules (I'm presuming you're on a high-protein diet) are particularly large and can overwork the kidneys. This is the primary reason that I avoid a high protein diet. My reasoning is, however, based only on advice from a biologist, who convinced me.In lieu of a high-protein diet, eat vegetarian (preferably cutting milk, too) and exercise to lose weight. Drink plenty of water with your protein. Protein is overrated in this hamburger society. With a vegetarian diet, you can cut high blood pressure, which is a contributing factor to kidney decline. Here's an article. Go to the experts, as I'm not one: http://www.webmd.com/news/20030317/high-protein-diets-can-hurt-kidneysPeace.

  • There is a company based in NY that just launched a Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese Dinner with great taste and 75% LESS sodium and 75% LESS phosphorus than other leading brands. There is also an outstanding one-skillet easy Cheeseburger Macaroni Divan recipe on the back. With 100mg of phosphorus, 180mg of sodium, 10 grams of protein, and only 6 grams of fat pre serving! When have you ever read "Hamburger and Macaroni and Cheese" in the same sentence as kidney friendly foods? This is just one of many that this company has. The name is Dairy Delicious ( check online at www.dairydelicious.com) and their number is 212-292-4511 ask for David.
