I have a problem making urine except in a supine position, no matter the fluid intake, my kidneys do not produce urine except while lying down, I have seen multiple doctors incl hephrologists, to see rhuematologist next, no one has an answer
I am a 58 year old Caucasian male, my story started in 1987, with symptoms after a strep infection and penicillin, fever, blood in stool(later found to be peptic ulcer), Kidney problems, trouble making urine except while lying down, nocturia, loss of weight 10-15lbs, loss of appetite, saw nephrologists, rheumatologists at Duke, UVA, as well as local doctors, some abnormal blood work, creatitine 1.6 ,positive crp, mildly elevated sed rate, positive cryoglobulins, later negative, some elevated Ig, elevated ch50, had IVP, renal scan, CT, all normal, did not have arteriorgram, after a while learned to live with the change in urinary symptoms. Some concern then about autoimmune vasculitis type disease Polyarteritis Nodosa (PAN), but forgotten about until recently, within past 6 months, had a couple fevers with flu like symptoms, did not think much about these until started having kidney problems again, symptoms started to worsen, inability to make urine unless lying down with feet elevated no matter the fluid intake, started to see doctors again, have had normal sed rate(12) two months after fever, normal renal blood tests creat 1.3 and bun, normal urinalysis, CTArteriorgram normal( no renal artery stenosis as noted), Doppler ultrasound normal( but done while lying down), normal renal scan, loss of appetite, loss weight 30 lbs, loss of energy, development hypertension 145/100 standing, lying 120/75, started on daxosin(1mg) has lowered bp to normal, have not had catheter arteriogram, other blood tests that were positive 20 yers ago neg now , I am perplexed by this problem of kidney function, by what I understand PAN is typically more fulmigant, what I have experienced seems to be mild except for the renal problems, the doctors I have seen don’t understand the urinary symptoms, however, are adamant about no blood flow problems to the kidneys based on scans, I am concerned about blood flow vasculitis problems, Has anyone heard of such symptoms with anyone with vasculitis, can a vasculitis problem remain in remission for 20 years and flare up again, , have not had any biopsy or blood or protein in urine, I would appreciate any thoughts anyone might have
