Hi, My name is Marie and my son (17 yrs old) was diagnosed with CKD and high blood pressure. His creatinine levels have been between 185 to 210 but stable. His bp was 177/117 but is now under control. He had to double his hp meds to 10mg Norvasq 2x a day and Losartan 25 mg once a day. The nephrologist increased his Losartan to 50 mg hoping to decrease the Norvasq since the Losartan does both kidney and hp but ended up his Creatinine levels went up to 245 and potassium to 5.4. He has 45% function of kidneys (both are affected). Does this mean the 45% function is now less? Will this have caused more damage? She has put him back down to 25mg and kept his hp meds as is.
Thanks for any input! He is 5'.8" 127 lbs, and nearly 18, I was told Stage 3 CKD, how to calculate GfR?
