I just had a CT scan where they found a node on my kidney. My doctor said they can't tell what it is at this point and I'll have to follow up with an ultrasound in 6 months to see if it's changed. I guess if it changes it's cancer?

My doctor said it's probably not anything... but I can't help but worry.

Are nodes common with kidneys?

  • Hm, I guess no one knows or doesn't want to tell me anything bad?I saw my doctor today and he said a kidney nodule is not common. I asked him if nodules are usually cancerous and all he says is that we can't tell now.He did say that if the radiologist recommends following up in 6 months it means they are not too worried about it and that they are just being very careful. But then reading articles 6 months seems like the standard wait and see timeframe :(Reading stuff on the internet is just scary. I read one article that says a kidney nodule is usually a tumor...
