Bursitis In Many Joints

I started experiencing bursitis about 3 years ago - 1st in my shoulder which I received cortizone shots and therapy to get movement back. It is still sore but I have been able to live with it. Two years ago my knee bursa enlarged and after shots and therapy I am scheduled to have a bursectomy next month. I now have pain in my hip and ankle which seem suspiciously like my shoulder and knee. My doctor is telling me they don't have any link but I'm only 48 years old, healthy, not overweight and have had no trauma to the joints mentioned.
Is there a disease of the bursa that anyone knows about or something to link them together?? It seems crazy to me to have so many joint issues.

THANKS

Over that time I now have a bursa in my left elbow, left shoulder and now I think I am developing one in my left hip. I was about to ask my Dr the same question.
