surfing in dirty water

My son, and many others in our area, frequently surfed during the last few months even with posted warnings of dangerously high bacterial counts in the water. He has had sinus infections, flu-like symptoms, and now doesn't have his normal energy. Anyone else have experience with exposure to high levels of bacteria in ocean waters?

  • Can I ask where were you surfing? Was it in Hawaii by chance?
