Staph contagiousness

Hi all,
not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this. The situation is the following:

I do wrestling and have had three staph infections over the past two years, the most recent one being about 5 months ago. All of these were treated promptly with antibiotics and topical, antibacterial ointment. I currently do not have any infection, but someone else who trains with us has recently been diagnosed with one and nobody really knows where it came from. I know that healthy individuals can carry the disease without becoming sick. This leads me to wonder whether he could have caught it of me, since we have had close contact.
Basically I would like to know if there is any danger for anybody else and is there a way of finding out if I am carrying the bacteria?
I have already tried to see my GP about it, but as I am not actually ill, there aren’t any appointments available for three weeks. So any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for any help
