  • Hi Mac,I also had a terrible cough and shortness of breath. I had stopped smoking because of it. I thought I would feel better but after 6 months I told my doctor I wanted a chest x-ray. Because of those results they recommended a CAT scan. I was then sent to a Pulmonary specialist. He did a broncoscopy and it took about 6 weeks before they could deterime what I had. From there I went to an Infectous Disease doctor. I've been taking 3 different antibiotics for about a year. I was told I would have to take them for at least 18 months. We will see what happens. I am a 63 year old female.
