If a person is claiming to have food poisning with E Coli, is it possible to have a fever, of 102.2 and if not, what would the real cause be?

She was also hospitalized for a month and E Coli tends to heal in 5-10 days unless treated with antibiotics which can prolong hospitlization, She also was diagnosed with HUS and almost lost her kidney.
