Hi,

My lips peel every day, and i have a red in around my top and bottom lips of new skin when peeling lips is not noticable..however this lasts for a day then it dries out and peels again. i think i caught this from a girl i kissed one time. i have kissed a girl since and they contracted it from me and her lips now peel very badly.. i am very annoyed at this as i have tried. lip balms. (obviously wont kill the problem) hydrocortisone (prescribed from doctor - he doesn't think its contagious.. even though i know it is from facts) i have tried fusucidin cream (anti biotic) and deprobase is the latest and its an ointment. i used the steriod (hydrocortisone) daily as it makes my lips look healthier.. without anything my lips look terrible... how do i kill the bacteria/virus/parisite? whichever is causing me this never ending problem..

had this since February (day after i kissed the girl.. pus came on my lips like an infection had occured).. then a slight cut which seemed as if it was trying to heal.. and it never did.

Any help on this would be appreciated..
just about had enough of it & refraining from having girlfriends and kissing anyone because i wouldn't want to mess anyone up

looked up exfoliative chelitous... looks very similar to this. if that helps... however it states its not contagious?

I look forward to hearing any responses!!

  • My partner and I started having this issue two years ago, and we think it is contagious too because we've definitely passed it back and forth. It's not necessarily from kissing, though, because my 90-year-old aunt had it as well, and she was doing no kissing at the time. Neither was it from us -she lived 200 miles away, in central Florida. It is so aggravating! For us, it came with digestive upset too, and that helped me find a remedy that seems to work: cimetidine, an antihistamine antagonist sold without prescription in the US mainly as Tagamet. If you want, you might try 200 mg twice a day for a couple of weeks or so- it's a widely used, older drug, and pretty safe. The theory holds that reducing the excess stomach acid produced by your histaminic reaction to the cause/virus/parasite/whatever it is helps your body clear the infection somehow.
