I have been told by another parent that thrush can be caused by carpet that isn't cleaned once a month. I have been researching the causes of thrush and I can't find anything that supports that statement. Any ideas?

  • If that is a cause to thrush mouth, it isn't the only reason nor is it a very effective reason, consult your'e doctor and ask him if its a cause for it? All 3 of my children have gotton thrush mouth and i sure dont have the time with being a single mother to 3 kids and being pregnant again to clean my carpet once a month. they can also get it from bacteria or not washing bottles correctly, ect... any more ?? e-mail me Telnisha123@yahoo.com

  • Thrush is a sign of Candida -- yeast infection. If a child is born at the time of the mother having a yeast infection, it is possible to pass the yeast infection from mother to child...in the form of thrush. Another way of thrush contraction is a poor digestional tract...not enough good bacteria to keep the yeast under control, this is caused by eating to many processed foods, sugars, yeasty foods, starches, carbohydrates etc.... I'm 99% sure that thrush is caused by unclean carpet, else more children would have it...especially mine. I've cleaned our carpet once in the last 8 yrs.

  • Remember also that thrush can be caused by antibiotic use. (That's what caused my daughter's thrush. Then tried to clear it up with antibiotics - doesn't make sense to me.)Gentian violet is a natural way to clear up thrush. My doctor simply dropped a few drops of this into my daughters mouth twice and the thrush was gone (two courses of antibiotics weren't helping clear it up). Gentian violet stains (the mouth, clothes), but I didn't notice any side effects and within less than a week the thrush was gone.

  • If your child was on any antibiotics, it may have given him/her thrush. I doubt that unclean carpets have anything to do with it.
