Hi. I have a babygirl she is 4 months now and 3 days ago she refused to eat. I am bottle feeding from 8 weeks. It was always a problem to feed her before but she was eating every three hours and taking at least 60 ml.
But now she is screaming when i try to feed her and not taking anything!!!! one day i fed her at 6 am and she drunk 150 ml in one go, then i was trying to feed her all day but with no luck. next feed when she drunk 200 ml was only in 15 hours. so now she is loosing weight. she hasn't got tempreture ang her lungs are fine.
I was at doctors they think she has reflux or cowmilk intolerence.
They prescribed Gavascon infant powder to add to the milk I started to give it to her yesterday but can not see improvment yet.

what i notice she sounds as she has some air or water stuck in her throat. when she swallows her seliva you can hear the sounds like if you have a half filled bottle of water in the bag.

Please help!!!!

THANK YOU

by the way i am using cow & gate milk.

This is very bad - cow's milk should not be introduced until she is nearly a year old. She needs breastmilk or FORMULA only... DOM

  • Hi,I am using formula milk "Cow & Gate" that you can use from birth. But things better now SHE IS EATING!!!!the problem was simple - she was constipated and that was the reason for her to refuse to eat.but for one week - doctors did not know what was happening!!!That is so awful - you rely on medical expert but they do not care. All they did: doctors and health visitor - looking at growchat and saying that she is growing and everithing is fine. Yes she was growing when she was eating!!!!She started to loose weight and for two days she had 140 ml and 160 ml during 24 hours!!!She become dehadrated - and the doctor sugested that if she will refuse to eat to put her in the hospital for a drip. NICE!!!!So the doctor who realised that she was constipated was working in emergency gp clinic - where we went with my husband to show him our poor daughter. The doctor was from Nigeria - I am really sorry but sometimes it sounds that doctors and dentist from abroad are better! so if your child refuse to eat - check if she is contstipated - that can be the reason

But in my opinion the better way to feed your child is by breastfeeding it. There are numerous benefits from breastfeeding. I just read that breastfeeding is good for mothers heart too. Have you tried to breastfeed your child?
