Blood transfusion dependant with no diagnosis of a disease. Baffling.

After 3 years of testing and multiple hospitalizations due to low platelets and red blood cells and over 25 blood transfusions, IVIG treatments, Rituxin chemotherapy treatments, massive steroids. I still suffer from severe low HGB and Platelets. Tested for every genetic abnormality and three bone marrow biopsies shows only that i have an immune dysfunction. That is good news for sure i have no disease! IVIG treatments do improve platelets for awhile but not the HGB. Blood transfusions are the only treatment for that. There is no bone marrow dysfunction what so ever. Amazing for sure.

After begging the doctors to test for immune imbalances, they finally tested me for Interlukin-2 abnormalities as i lay in the hospital with platelets of 5000 and no improvement. Yes! You really need to stay on top of your doctors. Well bingo. IL-2 was 2900 over twice normal even on mega doses of steroids. We are onto something but what are we onto? A hormonal/protein disorder? Mysterious.

I have studied the branch of medicine Psyconeuroimmunology and discovered that yes the brain, CNS and immune system are interconnected and yes the brain can cause hormonal imbalances that lead to immune dysfunction but to become life threatening is even a stretch for that branch of medicine. It is documented that depression does cause increases of IL-2 in a small population of people. That is the only cause of IL-2 over production i have found. Doctors do not have a clue why my Il-2 is so high.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have all the symptoms of Il-2 immunotherapy treatment so that helps to confirm the Il-2 hormone/protein imbalance! Yea.

We have started a new drug cyclosporin G(modified) that should get the Il-2 back in balance in a few months without serious side effects so i am not desperate. But Would love to have more answers. I was a health 50 year old on no medications before this and there is no history of auto immunity in my family. I have no auto immune antibodies and Coombs tests are both negative. Research shows cyclosporin reverses low platelets and reactive anemia via the IL-2 supression!

All tests for external born triggers for this imbalance are negative including lyme, parasites, viruses, bacteria etc.
