I had a stress test and Cath do to my family history and the fact that I turned 50. It showed I had a 30% blockage in one artery and the rest were clear.
The cardiologist said that was not bad for a 50 year old male and with my family history.

I had a some panic attacks recently brought on by almost fainting from heat stress a couple of months ago.
Now it has me worried about my heart.
I feel sensations in my legs (tickling) and am aware of everything in my body.
I was having pain in my left arm do to a upper back problem but now it scares me. I went to PT and he thinks it is from my back and shoulder.

How long could my arm hurt if it was my heart.
Is it possible to have pain in the arm from your heart for a long time and not have a heart attack.

I have not had shortness of breath and no severe chest pain

Thanks

  • I think we have 4 big coronary arteries wrapped around the heart. When there is a blockage, collateral arteries form. So if your doc is not worried, then I would think you could relax. Also, which artery has the blockage? Anyway, I think you are freaked out about the 30%, but you must realize we all begin to plug up as we get older and it is impossible to be %100 clear in all coronary arteries unless you've been incredibly rigid about cardiac health. There are ways to reverse plaque build-up such as statin drug therapy, diet and weight control, eating your veggies etc. that are shown to work. Physical therapists are very knowledgeable and can recognize arm/back pain versus cardiac pain. Does your arm hurt with exertion? I don't mean lifting, but rather if you are on a treadmill, does your arm begin to hurt and subside when you stop exercising? That would be cardiac related then. Hope this helps. Relax and work with your P.T. to get back in shape.
