I noticed a small pea sized lump or bump on my daughters left side of her neck approx. 2yrs. ago at the time my husband also saw this but we brushed it off and thought it was part of a vein in her neck. Since then my husband has informed me that over these past two yrs. he has watched it grow I hadn't noticed it because you can not see it unless she tilts her neck to the side. She recently fell approx. 1month ago and had to get 5 stitches on her chin when the Dr. was finished I was holding her and she layed her head on me and I then saw the bumps which are 2 swollen lymph nodes hard non painful and the size of 2 small olives right next to each other 2 wks. after I made her an appt.to see her Dr. and they found another on the right side of her jaw and all three have since cont. to slowly grow she goes in to see her Dr. in 3 days for blood test results but when we were there to have the bumps eval. the Dr, did not seem to believe me when I informed her they had been there for 2 yrs. what I would like to know is most likely what are these lymph nodes that cont. growing can anyone weigh in ? I know they have noyhing to do with a cold because she is not sick or doesnt have a cough she has also recently last night actually broke out with unexplainable generalized rash that comes and goes no fevers although in the past she has been hospitalized w/ pnemonia and a kidney infection both times w/ fevers in the 105 area please give me any info u may have

  • I'm sorry to hear about you're daughter. You should discuss with a doctor the possibility of lymphoma (Hodgkins or Non-Hodgkins). Lymphoma's will cause swollen non painful lymph nodes, especially ones that increase in size and stay swollen. It can also cause itching, night sweats, and fevers. I don't know about rashes. It's more likely that the swollen lymph nodes are caused by something non serious, but it might be worth asking her doctor just in case.

  • I too have a little one with swollen lymph nodes on the side or her neck. I noticed them about 6 months ago and ended up taking her to the doc. They did a chest x-ray and also tested her for mono? Well ends up she test positive for mono. Funny thing is she never had one symptom of mono? I will say that the lymph nodes have shrunk but I am still concerned. I have had several people say that mono in a 3 year old is uncommon. Also recently she has come down with the cough and also a pretty high temp only occurring at night. Just been reading online about lymphoma and I think I am really scaring myself. Do any of you know what the changes are it could be a misdiagnosis?HELP :-(
