Does anyone know about Woody Edema?
Does anyone know a websiite that explains it and/or natural remedies or traditional med, remedies for Woody Edema?
Aug. 21st of 2008 I was in a terrible car accident and nearly lost my arm because it was pinned under the passenger door with me inside upside down for over an hour, I was put into a medical comma for several days and in the meantime- doctors rebuilt my cheek, put my eye back, but my ear and head were so swollen, I was unrecognizable. My arm had to be re-awakend with acid baths and a sort of shock therapy twice a day with bleached gauze, that was wrapped on and then removed later.
I was told I have bone overcompensation or overgrowth in my elbow, but also my ear has a bone pushing it outward. My elbow and several inches going downward and upward on my arm have woody edema and it is hard as a bone and seems to be getting harder and growing up the arm into the soft flesh. Part of my flesh just below the right elbow was removed in surgery down to the muscle and I had a skin graft that has taken nicely and is healing well. Below the woody edema is regular edema but that is slowly improving.
I need help as I have no insurance and I am a widow on a veteran's widow's pension. I have other problems physically with my knees, but have not seen a doctor because I am not able to afford it. In TN I am so far not eligable for any Health Ins. coverage from the state. This accident was a one car accident- and so far I do not know why it happened. My car left the road and rolled down an embankment pinning me inside. I did not fall asleep, as I had just turned out of a driveway 15 seconds before. I do not drink, smoke, or do any kind of drugs. I was in the trauma care unit for 4 weeks and coded. I was intebated and trached and now have problems breathing and my airway seems to be closing. I did see the ENT from my hospital stay and CT scan says soft tissue is blocking my ear- but he thinks there may also be a bone problem.
I have so many problems, but I mainly would like to know what I can do personally to get rid of the woody edema and what can be done naturally or otherwise for bone overgrowth. I cannot straighten or bend my right arm. IT is stuck in a 45% position. My fingers work, but two are numb. I have pain continuously, but it is becoming less. Any help or suggestions would be so appreciated. I am a singer also and have lost my singing voice. I have a website at myspace.com/songbirdcindy
