Hi, i have posted here before about the symptoms i am posting, to which i got varied replies of what i should be talking about to my doctor.

My memory loss seems to be getting worse and is worrying me that i might end up losing my job because of it, people are noticing at work as i am constantly losing orders etc.

The saturday just gone, it was about 10.30pm and i needed some tobacco. I phoned up my dad to ask whether he knew if Asda was still open, but he said it closed at 10, you can borrow some of me if you come and get it. So i set off in my car, drove straight past my dads street, pulled up on the pitch black empty Asda car park, walked over to the doors and when i realised they wouldnt open, i remembered it was closed and that i was going to my dads.

Thats an example of the strange things i do quite alot. Its not rare for me to lose the forklift truck at work (and there not exactly small). After about an hours searching i will find it parked up behind some big wooden boxes when i parked it and forgot for example.

I just got back from the doctors this morning, i told him all this and he said well you need to go back on anti depressants. Its all he seems to say, that im depressed. I was on them about 4 years ago for 2 years and they did nothing for me.

Getting sick of it now its ridiculous.

  • There may be many reasons. Do you have any other symptoms besides memory troubles? For one example, memory problems are common with problems of the thyroid. Have you had the thyroid tested...it is a simple blood test. Sometimes doctors think a patient is depressed but it is a thyroid problem...which can also cause depression by the way. But a thryoid problem would also present with other symptoms as well, not just memory...do you have other symptoms?

  • Hi thankyou for replying.I have many symptoms which i didnt have before i became which i describe as 'unwell' such as:Never refreshed after sleeping. No matter how long.Extremely heavy sleeper. I need physically shaking if some one is to wake me up.The feeling you have around your eyes when you first wake up in the morning, like a grotty feel, well i have that all day.I cant concentrate on things my mind wanders off into 'nothing'.I am also getting a rash on the top of my thighs, which comes and goes. Its a red rash with little dots. Ive never been able to show the doctor because it comes out of the blue, but alot of the time its at night. The doctor said they need to see it to know what it is of course.

  • Unrefreshed sleep after sleeping suggests a sleeping problem. Also the lack of concentration and memory problems also point to a sleeping condition as well. You may have undiagnosed sleep apena or other sleeping condition. I would definitely research the web for sleeping conditions.... If I were you I would try to get an appointment at a sleep clinic or hospital that may specialize in sleeping problems. You can also try a neurologist who may be able to help you diagnose a sleeping problems. I am not sure about the rash, that is a puzzler....if we are talking about a sleeping I don't think rash is a symptom....if there is a conncetion with the rash and your memory and tiredness it could be what I mentioned before, Thryoid. • You are clearly having a sleeping disorder, but that is not all that is going on here. What is your diet like? What do you eat and drink on a daily basis? What is your digestion like? Any food or drink cravings? Your doctor is a complete idiot recommending antidepressants to you - if they didn't help before they will not help now. This is a physiological disorder, and even though it may be affecting you psychologically, you need to get to the bottom of this problem. You are young. Do you take any other meds? Do you take any supplements? I would recommend essential fatty acids, B vitamins, and other. I would suggest getting tested for vitamin/mineral deficiencies or visit www.1stholistic.com and look up their chart and see which vitamins fit your symptoms... Does the rash itch? Next time you have this rash, take a picture of it. Do you have any sinus problems? Best wishesDOM

It was good going back a year when i was going to the gym every day, i was eating all the right stuff. But now theres too much crisps, chocolate, and sticking a pizza and chips in the oven for tea.Im not sure whether my digestion is abnormal or not? I dont go to the toilet every day, it sometimes surprises me because i am 6 ft 3, 15 stone and eat quite alot. I go to the toilet about once in 2 or 3 days. I dont really get any food cravings for anything in particular, yoghurts before i go to bed maybe but i think i just like them.I dont take any medication at all. Im not even getting the anti depressants he prescribed, because i dont think its the problem. I was taking them for years, then he put me on prozac and they did nothing either. He sent me to the mental health ward after that, and they told me there was no mental illness and that i wasnt to go back. The rash is very itchy and can wake me up at night because i need to itch it. But like i say just comes and goes at random times, but alot of the time at night. It just appeared a minute ago, but only slightly so i grabbed a quick photo. I know when its coming on because i can feel that part of my leg skin getting very hot. This is how it starts off, very light and fadeyhttp://img508.imageshack.us/img508/6757/dsc00009vg7.th.jpghttp://img516.imageshack.us/img516/1948/dsc00006je4.th.jpgAnd this is when its a bit more lumpy with little spotshttp://img224.imageshack.us/img224/9757/rash1uh0.th.jpgI am going to look into adding extra vitamins and putting together a good diet.Thankyou for your time.

  • Hi i have just realised of what other symptom i suffer that may help you help me. I often get very extreme muscle twitches. Last night when i was in bed dozing off to sleep i got two quick twitches that were so intense it made my leg jump up and bang back down on the bed that it woke my girlfriend up. I often suffer them in my legs, where the rash is. Thanks.Just really hoping i can get some where with this as im getting nothing from my doctor (whom i am in the process of changing), which is why i am so keen to post my symptoms.Trying to remember when all this started, it may be totally innapropriate or nothing to do with it, but it was around 2 days before my 17th birthday, so 5 years ago, and me and a few friends were drunk and slept on the floor of a dirty alley way. Probably irrelivant but just trying to gather all information. Thanks

  • Leg twitches could be "restless leg syndrome"...this may have some relations to the sleeping problem and why you may not be sleeping well....research that as well.....still not sure on the rash though...

  • Sorry to hear about your problems. I'm researching some of the same symptoms for my husband. You have: memory lossconfusion (?) (going to the store rather than your Dad's for tobacco) rash with little red dots on thighs (could this be petechiae)muscle achesgeneral unwell feelingfatigue You mentioned that five years ago, you slept on the floor of a dirty alleyway. You could have gotten a bite from a flea (from a rat or cat) or body louse (from one of your buddies) and not have noticed at the time. Could you be suffering from some type of typhus? If you do some research, you will find those symptoms fit. There are various types: murine, endemic, scrub. I would certainly find a doctor (perhaps a dermatologist or infectious disease specialist) who would listen to my full range of symptoms and ask if this could be what you're suffering. If after researching this, you feel that this is a good possibility, my research indicates that the most important first step (even before the tests are returned since they take some time) is probably antibiotic therapy such as doxycycline, BUT do your own research and talk to the doctor. Good places for this research are www.umm.edu. www.healthatoz.com, www.emedicine.com. Act quickly if you believe this is what you have, because it can have some wicked results. Good luck!!

  • Hmmm. There is definitely liver involvement here with the muscle twitches and such...Have your new doc check your liver enzyme levels. Are you still drinking heavily? I think you should research candida symptoms - they are many and varied and are completely overlooked by docs. I like the following websites: www.candidasupport.org and www.wholeapproach.com. The former has a questionnaire and "saliva" test you can do at home - it is NOT a difinitive test, but can point you in the right direction. The latter website has a foodlist you can print out to help correct your diet. Constipation is a sign your not expelling waste and toxins correctly, and the toxic buildup can cause your symptoms. A cleanse may be helpful - IMO you should find a good holistic doc to help you with this... Also explore parasites as a possibility - they often go hand in hand with candida and are nearly impossible to test for accurately. There are many good herbal cleanses you can try - oil of oregano is good, and pau d'arco, walnut, fresh garlic, tea tree (use topically), a good aloe product, and others. Best wishesDOM

He sent me to the mental health ward after that, and they told me there was no mental illness and that i wasnt to go back. . first of all .. change doctors. Your doctor sounds an complete idiot!! second.. i too think (after you've changed doctors!) get your new doctor to send you for a sleep study. It could be a sleeping problem.. with sleep apnea one can wake up exhausted and have memory and concentration issues. With the legs jerking.... "restless leg syndrome" and that could be pulling you out of stages of sleep you need.. hence waking up tired, memory issues etc The rash could well be something entirely unrelated.. or of cause you could have a problem in which all the symptoms are involved in it. But the only medical problems i know of which cause those symptoms..also usually cause others you havent currently got (so post again if you get more symptoms). Get a sleep study done!

  • Thankyou i have changed my doctors and have got my first appointment next week.Ive got sore chest pains at the moment, had them since last night. Ive had them before about a year back when i was into bodybuilding, but they were most probably muscle pains. This time though it is right in the centre of my chest, where there is no muscle and it just feels like a bone when i push against it. It gets worse when i stand up, move my arms etc. Whether its anything to do with my other symptoms i dont know i was hoping one of you could tell me that please?I will be posting here what goes on at the new doctors, it might be able to help some one else too maybe.

  • For the rash: Keep in mind that not all symptoms may be related...it is possible the rash has something to do with laundry degergent or food or grass that you touch or lay in, pets and so forth. The chest stiffness is new, and you are probably too young for a heart attack, but you might want to call the docs office or go to the hospital just to be sure....I am not sure on this...but it COULD BE something like costochondritis. It is an inflammation of the cartilage where the ribs connect to the breastbone....certainly would account for pain with movement. Or, it could be angina.....it may be that you are thrashing in your sleep and now muscles are sore around that area...could be coughing a lot from allergies or a cold....could be something simple..... I personally feel that a sleep problem with the restless leg syndrome does account for some of it. Best is to be prepared with a good list of symtpoms, time line and questions for your doctor. that will help him/her to help you better. good luck! Joan

  • Have you had an MRI of your brain? Ask your Dr. to schedule one for you. I had changes with my memory and I was also making mistakes at work. I mentioned to my Dr. that I also had memory lapses, forgetting conversations with people and that sent up a RED flag for the Dr. He ordered an MRI. As it turned out I had a golf ball size BENIGN meningioma tumor which was successfully removed. The neurosurgeon said it had probably been growing for 15-20 yrs. It was caught before I had more serious symptoms like seizures. It's been a year since my surgery, I am doing great and feel blessed that it was benign.Do call your Dr. and ask for an MRI before you hurt yourself or anyone else with your memory lapses. I am so grateful to my Dr. for listening to me and not brushing it off to menopause or getting older, (I am 59).It's frustrating and frightening not knowing what's wrong with you but more frightening forgetting and possibly making a serious mistake at work or home. Good luck to you, I hope you feel better and get a better Dr. who is GOOD!!

  • You may have adrenal fatigue - or a host of other things like B12 deficiency, low serum folate and/or Hyperhomocysteinemia which relates to folate. Sounds like some liver stuff going on there too. Have some saliva tests done - three in the day at different times.I have most of your symptoms - have seen so many specialist and doctors - still trying to find the root cause. Good luck :)

  • If you can, I would consult a Neurologist, a Rheumatologist and an Infectious Disease Specialist. At very least, they'll be able to rule out a bunch of things that have those major symptoms. I also have the same kind of memory problems and can never get enough sleep (although I DO sleep through the night and well). I also have a strange rash that sounds similar to yours. I don't have an answer yet either. But I know I DON'T have a lot of things.
