I have gotten 2 of these 'attacks' so far. I start to feel really hot and my face, arms, shoulders and back get really red, like a sunburn, and hot to the touch. Then my lower legs look all mottled like they are covered with purple bruising. It really is a scary sight. I also start to itch everywhere. Then it starts to fade and is completely gone within half an hour.
I thought maybe it was an allergic reaction, like hives or something, but there are no raised areas or welts that are typical of an allergy. The first 'attack' happened just after I woke from a nap, and the 2nd when I was just sitting at the computer so I'm not sure what could have started it. The first was on Wednesday and the 2nd yesterday (Saturday).
Anyone ever had this?
The mottling is very purple and resembles livedo reticularis.
Oh I also thought maybe it was just niacin flush because I do take niacin, but that doesn't quite explain the purple mottling on my lower legs.
I have to pay a bill before I can see the Dr. again but I do plan on going in as soon as I'm able!
