I am trying to figure out what else I may have. I was just diagnosed with celiac, institial cycstitis and think there is a neurological or hormonal influence also. Anyone care to share what other autoimmune diseases may cause neurological or hormonal problems+

  • what other autoimmune diseases may cause neurological or hormonal problems+There is a good book called "Adrenal Fatique". get it and read it. there are like 4 pages of lists of really odd symptoms of this disorder. things you might be experiencing and have no idea it means something like "your fingertips are red. more red than the rest of your fingers. and odd things like that.the think with "autoimmune" is it means your "adrenal glands" are reacting probably by either flooding your system with cortisol (which is like being on cortisone!) or not sending out enough. the ovaries, the pituitary, the thyroid etc. alllll respond to the amount of cortisol in your system so if your adrenals are wack, then your whole body can be wack. personally, I also have Hashimotos Thyroiditis which is also connected with gluten issues. btw, I had what my dr called "the gold test for celiac" (an actual biopsy of my stomach lining) and it came back "negative". I have had such severe diarrhea etc. for so long I went off gluten anyway at the advice of a naturopath. I went on an "anti-inflamatory" diet. My "big D" got much better very very fast. get this book. there are many things that can be affected when our adrenal glands are messed up and your diet can be the cause of it. My life has improved so much since I stopped not only gluten, but aspartame, processed foods with ingredients I can't pronouce. dairy with tons of antibiotics in them. no sugar, no sugar substitute, no caffeine, no corn or high fructose corn syrup. read about it. read about "systemic inflamation" I lost 25 pounds in 6 weeks just by do this. I still have pain but it's not just everywhere. NOW I get to find out what is wrong otherwise. and stop just hurting everywhere and living my life in the Bathroom. and btw, my thyroid is leveling out now as well. I have been very hyperthyroid for a few years even tho my actual thyroid disorder for the last 30 years is "hypothyroidism". hope this helps. be.

I will get the book and see what I can figure out. I am already off of every thing you have suggested and have lost tons of weight, but still have problems. Going to a Neurologist in a couple of weeks. I want this over.

  • Going to a Neurologist in a couple of weeks. I want this over.best of luck and please let us know what s/he says. I am so out of it with PTSD right now I can hardly think. Would love to know what a neuro says to you. I am trying to get a Therapist and a GP right now. really long story but spoke to someone today about what's gone on for me this month (I refused to take a psych med that is actually contraindicated for me medically and my psych doc fired me from Therapy, her (which means refills for any meds she was prescribing AND all medical and dental care from that clinic.)it's been a tough year. at this point, just being in bed most of the time is almost easier than the rest of the last two years has been - well, except for that pesky "need to eat" stuff. I did eat tonight, it had been a couple of days so that helped. I hope you can figure it out and give us a hint while you are at it. This stuff is nuts and makes me unable to cope with the rest of the weirdo life I seem to be serving right now. take care, be.
