my dad just past away in Oct. We were lead to believe he had CJD but just got the autopsy report back and that wasn't it. We have been doing research on the internet and are wondering about GSS which is an extremely rare prion disease and would like to know how we can find out if this is what he had or what else would it be? If this would be the right disease, it's hereditary and only fatal. My whole family sits on the edge to know.

  • Did the autopsy say what it was or was it inconclusive. I am not sure what GSS is. Would this have been a disease that is detectable on autopsy? I wouldn't get too upset before I had more information. If it does turn out to be GSS, referral to a genetics specialist might help.
