What could cause this to happen?

I wake up 2 or 3 times each night and have an unpleasant tingling sensation in my body. It starts in my hands then goes across my chest and across the top of my legs. It only lasts for a couple of minutes. Last night it happened 3 times and the tingling seemed to go lower into my legs than it has before. This must have happened to other people. I can't find out what causes it or why it happens. I am also still losing weight. :( If you have any ideas I would be so pleased to hear them. Thank you.
