What's wrong with my nose?

For the past two months or so, whenever I blow the left side of my nose, I get this weird kind of fruity aftersmell/taste that seems to linger for an hour or two. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's really annoying, and I don't know what the cause would be. The right side is fine, however. Any ideas?

  • Sometime the tip of the nose will develop a little pool of mucus at the tip inside which will develop a funny smell. I had a rhinoplasty and several years after had to have a revision of the tip due to the exact same problem. Keep the inside tip clean. Use a Q-tip or clean finger to remove any collection of mucus. Smell it, and if you smell the fruitiness there then you have a problem with the (may not be right name) vestibule. You could see an ENT doc. Women can get that same smell in their earring holes if they don't wear their earrings for a while. If it is deeper inside, then I would imagine you have a yeasty thing going on in your sinus.
