Thanks for any help on this.... I do not have chest pains. I feel this only when I lay down to sleep. Othewise, I never notice anything. Otherwise, I feel normal. I started "feelling" this about 6 months ago. Went away. Now back.... I feel this in my upper chest....say a 6" area where the collor bones come together. A kind of hollow feeling. Have you ever taken a fast elevator and you get that "feeling". So there is some of that feeling, too. Kind of a slight nervous, "sudden fright", pulsating feeling. Never smoked cigs. Not overweight, no meds, strong, healthy...other than this odd sensation when I try to sleep. Any clues?

  • It may be GI related. Acid reflux or a hiatal hernia can cause from mild to significant chest pain. The fact that it is worse when you are laying down would make sense if it is either of those. Do you notice it is worse depending on what you eat at all? Of course, be sure to rule out anything cardiac related first...

  • Hm...never had digestion problems or acid reflux. My biggest eating problem is that I like sweets....adicted actually....but even so I don't binge on sweets. Would love to but I stop myself. My heart seems OK. Just don't know. Had some reg. coffee the other day and notice it a bit more. Thought maybe it had something to do with caffine. Or the diet cokes I drink...but have stopped drinking those recently. I normally drink decaf.coffee and not much of that. When it is worse...no pain at all....just a slight throbbing and nervous/freightened/hollow feeling. Below my adams apple and high/upper chest. Odd. Thanks. I will update this post with more info. as it develops.
