I got back from Guatemala a month ago and had all these symptoms, I was puking and had diareah, the back of my arm started itching and there was almost a single perfect circle a little bigger than a cigarette on my skin it wasn't scaly i put alcohol on it and it got bigger or more swollen and lot more defined then subsided a little, a month later I have the same symptoms and the ring is back, is there somekind of parasite that lives in skin and causes this?

  • go to a doctor and a dermatologist. you might have some kind of parasite, internal infection, lime disease, etc.

  • Hi,Ringworm (which isn't a worm at all, but a fungal infection) makes a perfect little (sometimes big) circle of bumps on your skin.It doesn't generally cause the other symptoms, which I expect are actually being caused by something entirely separate.Anyway, you need to go to the doctor, because the ringworm is totally contageous (to yourself in other places, and to anyone who comes in contact with it...do NOT use any public swimming fascilities while it is active!!) and because whatever is causing you to be throwing up and having diarrhea could be an infection that wants treatment as well. Good luck!Shula

  • I am pretty sure it probly is ringworm, i just thought it was weird that it howed up the first time and went away until this last time, almost exactly a month later with the same symptoms.

  • Hi,Not weird to me. Ringworm can take 2 weeks to show up after infection. So the first one went away, but not before he had been reinfected. What happens? It shows up about a month after he gets home.I'm less understanding of GI problems going away and showing back up.Shula

  • LYME DISEASE!www.lymenet.orgwww.canlyme.com - this one is better, in my opinion. This rash is called a bulls eye rash and it indicates a bite by an infected tick. Research also shows that mosquitoes and mites can carry the disease. You need antibiotics and you are very lucky to be in a very early stage of the disease. Do not let it go any longer because the bacteria can invade your body. There is a list of symptoms on both these sites - you may notice other symptoms you may have.
