Weight gain

I am a 29 year old male, 5 feet 6 inches in height and weighing 75Kgs. According to the Height-Weight Index I am about 15kgs overweight, even though I am a moderate eater. I have been exercising regularly for the past one year but after losing about 3 kg initially I am back to where I started. Since my wasteline was increasing one inch every year (its 36 now) I consulted a physician. He said I had all the symptoms of insulin resistance which could be genetical in nature. (My father is diabetic and he also suffered a minor heart attack a few months back.)

I am now taking 2mg roziglitazone combined with metformin 500mg. The physician told me that this would help in reducing weight gain, but even after 6 months I dont see any difference. I also get this bloated feeling and sometimes feel drowsy all day. Other than a bit of cholesterol my blood test revealed nothing. As I do not over eat I believe my weight gain is caused by something else. Can anyone help?
