Wave-like sound in left ear and regular phantom methane smell

For around a year and a half I've had this whooshing noise in my left ear which sounds like the fluids moving around. I've been treated for a sinus infection but the problem didn't improve, and now I'm starting to smell methane in places it shouldn't be present.

What could be wrong?

  • Hi there,I had a friend with a similar problem where his condition ( cant remember the name) made him get fluid removed from his inner ear. How he kept track of when he needed to be drained was accute headache and feeling like being underwater or taking off on an airplane. What creates it is an irregular gland that rather producing 'thick' ear wax it would actually produce a way too thin fluid that accumulates. You might want to have that checked out ;) For his part it was and still is something that ain't severe or harmfull when followed.

  • You may have a combination of conditions involved. I would explore the possible combinations and bring these possibilities up with all of your doctors. An ear and sinus infection could've caused both.http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/hearing/pages/tinnitus.aspxhttp://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Smelling+Disordershttp://ehealthforum.com/health/topic82737.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysosmiahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantosmia
