Hi, I am not posting for me, but for my sister, who I believe was misdiagnosed and not tested thoroughly enough.
She was complaining of chest pain and a cough in August of 2010, and she was diagnosed with a case of heartburn. A few months later, she developed breathing problems, and her chest still hurt, so her doctor sent her to a cardiologist. She was given an ECG, which was normal, but since her chest hurt practically all the time, regardless of whether they (the doctors) touched it or not, she was diagnosed with costochondritis.
I have read the symptoms of this disorder, and only one symptom, chest pain, matched her symptoms. She has breathing problems, and she can't do as many activities, such as running or brisk exersice, as she used to. When she breathes in, her chest hurts, and she sometimes has a cough. I know I sound insane, but I believe they should have tested her a bit more to get an accurate result.
Was she misdiagnosed, or was it just my medical paranoia?
