My 21 year old daughter was diagnosed with this condition a couple of years ago. She is not finding relief of pain with the many solutions provided by healthcare providers and also has done much Internet research.

I am starting this thread to be specific to vulvar vestibulitis to help my daughter and others find the "root cause", determine other possible medical reasons for the symptoms and get the BEST diagnosis to find a solution to be pain free.

  • I too have vulvar vestibulitis but I didn't get it until I was about 50 years old. I'm sorry that your daughter is going through this. I was put on Vagifem and a special cream that is only available through my gyno's office. I would say that I have seen about a 90% improvement using these two products. But, the biggest improvement has come from some changes I made at home.1. I only wash my panties in mild, non scented soap.2. I no longer use a dry sheet in the dryer when drying them(HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!)3. I shower using a non scented natural soap4. I sleep without any bottoms. Hope this helps

  • Yes, she may want to switch to a natural/green soap for bathing and washing her clothes. Check this out:http://www.uihealthcare.com/depts/med/obgyn/patedu/vulvarvaginaldisease/vestibulitis.html I'm sure acupuncture would give her some relief, but she needs a pap with infections and viruses ruled out, too.
