A few weeks ago, after a night of drinking, I vomited in the morning about 5 times within about 1 minute. The first time was normal, then it was a little darker, then it was all blood the last few times. Now I DID go to the doctor on monday (it happened on saturday and our clinic is not open on the weekend) and all she did was give me a few possibilites, some anti-stomach acid pills, and pretty much blew me off. I am in the military you see, and despite popular belief, our medical treatment is HORRIBLE. Most of the time the people you see arent even doctors. One time I went and told them symptoms, and all they did was flip through a medical book (Not kidding). In any case I have looked up the causees of vomiting blood, and most of them sound very bad. I am not comforted at all by the doctor, but It has not happened again and it was at least 2 weeks ago. Am I safe in assuming that I would have been vomiting more if there was still blood in my stomach? Or should I demand further treatment? Thanks!!!

  • AFG, sounds to me like you had a pretty frightening experience. I imagine the doctor was right if it hasn't recurred. You probably irritated the lining of the stomach through drinking or maybe you had an infection. If it hasn't returned, then it hardly seems worth dwelling on the possibility of an exotic disease. You might like to consult another doctor to put your mind at rest though.

  • I hope this helps you out. I suggest that you stop drinking because your stomach seems to be very irritated, remember when your stomach throws something out (you throw up), its rejecting it because it causes your body harm, its poisining your body. Your body knows, those symptoms are a warning of whats happening. I have herd of some casses when a person that drinks a lot gets liver cancer (whatever the name for it is), but since you only had this happen to you onece hopefully its nothing bad. I also suggest that if you continue to feel ill you see another doctor (even if you have to pay, sometimes its better than insurace doctors, I know of many cases that turn out successul with a correct diagnosis). Anyhow, good luck with finding a diagnosis (I don't know your faith, but I will pray for you.)
