I've been suffering from symptoms VERY similar to VITB12 deficiency for over 4 months now. I didn't know what vitb12 def was until recently i googled the symptoms and founf them to be similar.

I was just looking at my blood test result which i took few months ago. Do they test for VIT B12 deficiency in regular blood test and what is the Abbreviation for VIT B12. are there any more accurate tests to diagnose for VIT b12?

I've had several blood tests, one MRI, 2 catscans and no diagnosis for 4-5 months now!

I was excessively using ZANTAC extra strength then i was using LOSEC ( which is supposed to be more powerful than ZANTAC) for heartburn and two - three weeks after my LOSEC dosage was over i started feeling SOO MISERABLE almost paralyzed the doctors were so confusedbut i haven't told any of them abt my heartburn issue cuzz i didnt think it was related.

Is it possible that it takes time for VIT B12 to show in my blood? what are the recommended levels and how is it abbreviated in the blood work report? I live in Canada ( Ontario) are the minimum levels here adequate enough ?

  • Hey!I had an appointment with a neurologist a week ago, she wanted to take a blood sample to see if I had the B-12 deficiency butI told her that my family doctor already did that and it came back negative!Nevertheless she wanted to check it herself, cause the tests that the "regular" doctors have aren't that good and often the results are negative even though the person has the deficiency!I would see a specialist about this just to be on the save side!If you have the deficiency for a long time it befomes harder to treat it!Good luck

  • It started 4-5 months ago with sudden dizziness tht came out of no where and lasted a minute usually when I'm walking. few weeks later i started feeling off-balance. my ENT tests and MRI were negative. It reached to a point where I could'nt even stand up for more than few minutes. I had to take a month off work. Till now i feel offbalance and recently i started gtting migraines and my whole left body is feling very weak. My muscles next to my spine (left side) are so tight. I have tingling sorta lik sharp pain that shoots over different areas of my body. I had mood changes over the past few months got soo much anxiety and depression. but now my mood is more stable. I've been having joint pain all over my body and my musles feel very weak. I feel most dizzy if i try to work out ( which i haven't been able to for 5 months!). When i do little exercises in my home the next day i feel miserable and muscles sore and bones feel coldd. What kind of blood test detects VITAMIN B12 deficiency? do regular blood tests detect that or do i need more specialized tests? Does it take long to show up in ur blood?
