My husband was diagnosed with HTLV type II, when asked if I could be tested, the doctors gave me the run-around. I am currently working with a couple who want to use me as a surrogate, and we are concerned with HTLV and pregnancy. I have two healthy children of my own. Are there any risks of having a child for someone else, if I happen to be a carrier or HTLV also?

subject title HTLV (so i dont think it is spam!)

thank you!!

  • To answer your question, having a baby if you are infected with HTLV should not be a problem except for breastfeeding (in other words, don't breast feed because the virus can be transmitted that way). Have you been tested?
