Hi everyone. I have suffered from chronic UTI's sense I was 15. They have been getting more frequent as I get older I am now 26 & get one every two months. This month I have had 2 well I thought I did. I have all the symptoms the pain burning urgency everything. I went to the doc no infection. This has happened to me once before about 6 months ago. The Dr tested me for STD's & bladder cancer both came back negative. The Dr's think I'm crazy but it really really hurts all the time its bone chilling pain. Could it be anything else or am I in fact crazy? please help.:(

  • Are you male or female? If you are female, do you have children? Are you on any medication? Do you have any other symptoms?

  • Are you male or female? If you are female, do you have children? Are you on any medication? Do you have any other symptoms? I am female I have 2 boys my youngest is 3. They put me on Cipro for the infection then found out i don't have one no other meds. No other symptoms then those of a common UTI that I have had for 5 weeks now.

  • I have yet more questions. Do you ever have pelvic pain, ie after sex? Any varicose veins on your private parts or inner sides of thighs? You write that you have had UTIs since you were a teenager, but were they proven infections? Were they treated with antibiotics?

  • Hi there. I too suffered several UTI's as a child and teen, so I know what you go through. I recall having a procedure done as a child (cystoscopy, I think). I don't recall ever having one that did not test positive when I felt the typical onset of symptoms, however. Has the doctor done a blood test to test your WBC that may indicate an infection elsewhere (other than bladder/kidney)? That may be a good place to start. Perhaps request re-doing the urinalysis - remember a mid-stream clean catch first thing in the morning will give you the best specimen (just refridgerate until you take in the sample). As for the UTI's, I found that urinating soon after intercouse has reduced the occurence for me to basically none in the past 15 years or so. The physical act of intercourse can push bacteria into the urethra (which is relatively short in a female) that can travel to the bladder. Also, try drinking pure cranberry juice (yuck, I know) or take cranberry capsules. It is common knownledge that cranberry somehow makes it harder for bacteria to "stick" in the bladder. http://nutrition.about.com/od/dietsformedicaldisorders/f/cranberryjuice.htm , http://www.medicine.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/band6/b6-3.html And this is completely off the top of my head, but I am thinking of your feelings of frequency and urgency. Could a partially prolapsed uterus be putting increased pressure on your bladder? Perhaps give a visit to your OBGYN. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/prolapsed_uterus/article_em.htm Hope this gives you a bit more to work with. Cindy

Come on over and talk to folks and look at the complete set of symptoms.

I have cramps after sex don't know if that would be considered pelvic pain. I don't have any varicose veins anywhere. I have always tested positive for the uti in the office always sent home with antibiotics always had my sample sent off to the lab. This time I'm still having pain after 5 days on the med so I called to see what the lab results were they said no infection & weren't very helpful after that. So I don't know how many times it has been positive then negative at the lab

  • My knowledge about UTIs is very scarce. I was thinking of another condition, but see now that I was on the wrong track. I hope somebody else can help. Good luck! :)

Felt like a bladder infection.... pain and felt the urgency and pain in back. Sometime it would show up when they stuck the stick in but everytime its sent to lab it comes back as no infection. I have had this numerous times in the past year.

  • Chronic UTIs may be a symptom of candida overload, and taking antibiotics may make things worse in the long run. Please research candida and consider trying a good cleanse like Threelac of Fivelac, or some other herbal cleanse (a naturopathic doc or other holistic practitioner can help you with this). Diet can play a role also. Cut out HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), processed foods, and yeasted/fermented products. Cranberry may be helpful, but some people experience discomfort with high doses of cranberry. Please get yourself a good quality probiotic to help rebuild your flora. A probiotic with several strains of beneficial bacteria will keep your genitourinary tract in balance. Lastly, please consider finding a good acupuncturist/Oriental medical practitioner to help you with this problem. It is very helpful for genito-urinary problems. There are alternatives to taking antibiotics. Best wishesDOM

  • Hi Mandy, I am a new member and i just came across your post. I can see that no one else seems to be understanding you as they keep telling you how to treat a UTI....but you don't have one :P only similar syptoms. The problems you are having sound very very similar to mine. I am a 23 year old female and i have no children. I had an infection about 9 months ago and it was treated with anti-biotics, when the infection cleared i was still experiencing UTI symtoms and pain. I had some tests done which didn't help and when this failed no one seemed to want to help anymore. After a few months the pain just went away and i felt normal again. Now i am living the same nightmare over again only now its worse than last time. I have never been so frustrated in my whole life. When i go to the doctor they just look at me like i'm stupid or i'm making it all up. I've had enough. If you have any luck with a diagnosis i'd love to hear about it- and i'll give you the same courtesy. I've done some research online and i'm going to try and get tests for PBS (painfull bladder sydrome) or Intertial Cystitis. Not sure how much luck i'll have because i can't seem to get anyone to take me serioulsy....cross your fingers for me. I can certainly sympathsize with you - hope you feel better soon.

  • Go to a urologist and tell them your symptoms. Sounds like interstitial cystitis.
