My partner went to docs last Sunday with what appeared to be a bladder infection: painful urination and frequency and quite a large amount of blood that appeared near the end of urination. Had a urine test but doc said it didn't show infection but there was large amount of blood so she prescribed him antibiotics. No blood present for him today and burning sensation almost gone. Doc called today saying that he needs to come back in as urine test showed high wbc.
What does this mean? Is it serious?

Thanks.

Thanks.Well nobody else has replied so I will just say that the high white blood cell count is what told the doctor (apart from your partners symptoms ) that he had a bladder infection. The antibiotics should clear it up.This is not serious however if he gets a temperature and a pain in the side of his back (flank pain) then the infection has travelled up into his kidneys and it is now serious.best wishes.I am not a doc though
