i'm peeing a lot during the night. It's been like this for awhile and at first i thought it was because i drank beer a lot but i havnt had any alchohol in 5 months and it's been constant everynight.

last night i didn't drink any water or anything before going to bed. I pee'd before going to bed. Then during the night i woke up 3 times to pee. I can pee and then 40 min later have to pee again without drinking anything inbetween.

told my new gp but was told i'm too young for it to be my prostate. I don't have diabetes. I asked if it possibly could be water diabetes. He said no. My kidneys were tested and they are fine. Liver is ok.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the muscle/tissue loss i've been experiencing. Does muscle break down in the urine?

what kind of things should i be tested for?

  • 1. check out prostate.... 2. also there is a hormone that helps you to hold urine at night...forgot the name...commonly low in kids with night time bedwetting problems (I know you don't have that but you get my drift...) and perhaps you are low on that hormone....it is prescribed by doctor...is a nasal spray....BUT it is possible you have something else going on...

I wonder if the problem could be hormones.Joan..you're awesome. I think you are right about the hormone. Gonna have my endo test me for it.

  • Get a referral to a urologist; it sounds like your prostate.

  • Might be totally wrong but I wondered how the Dr had ruled out diabetes. I know with my dad who was having similar symptoms he was told it couldn't be diabetes on the basis of a urine test. After much going back to the Dr's, a fasting blood test was done which found out that he had very bad diabetes.

  • Could be one of these :1. frequent urination at night if you have a lot of anything to drink within 3 hours of bedtime.or2. untreated sleep apnea. I have untreated sleep apnea and it causes frequent night time urination as much as 15 times a night! A sleep study would determine this for you.

Gonna have my endo test me for it.The name of the hormone is ADH or antidiuretic hormone. It regulates water retention and loss in the kidneys. It is stored and released from the posterior lobe of the pituitary. If you have decreased ADH, you can get a prescription for ADH.The disease is called diabetes insipidus or water diabetes. It is different from the more common diabetes mellitus or sugar diabetes.Hope this helps,
