Urinary Urgency

Two and a half years after a total hysterectomy for uterine cancer, I started having urinary urgency. Premarin Vaginal Cream worked until I gave it a break for a few months because of the breast tenderness. I now have tried Estrace, Estriol, and Vagifem and now even the Premarin Vaginal Cream and they burn so much I can't use it. Does the skin especially around the bladder and groin area absorb the cream -- maybe that would work? Does anyone have any advice on how to stop this miserable urinary urgency -- it has caused me to stay at home now most of the time. This has been going on for the past year. HELP!

  • Did the problems start right after surgery (after the pain killers, post-op meds wore off)?If so, perhaps the nerves to the bladder were damaged in the surgery or by the tumor.I hope this isn't the case, but it might be something to ask about.Best Wishes

  • NO, the urinary urgency and vaginal atrophy started 2 1/2 years after the surgery. The doctors think I finally expelled all of the estrogen I had and it responds well to estrogen -- I just wish it didn't burn so bad or I would use it again. The bladder is so close to the vagina it misses the estrogen, too! Hopefully I will work it out. Thanks.

  • Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine is very effective for treating urinary urgency. Please try it - you should notice a difference after the first treatment - it works! Best wishesDOM
