Hi everybody!

I have a question if somebody can help me please! Can constipation cause uti? I have getting these uti for about 6 months. They come and go away! I have stopped drinking coffee about that time 6 months ago and since than I don't go to bathroom often every 3-4 days. Before that period I was going twice or three times a day. So now I am wondering if constiptation can cause these uti? I dont want to take any more antiobiotics! I am sick of them!

Thank you!

  • Urinary Tract Infections can be caused by bacteria getting from the bowel to the bladder and I would think being constipated would allow bacteria to build up in the bowel. The best remedy I have found to get rid of urinary tract infections and also to prevent them re occuring is to take Cranberry 10,000mg tablets. You take one each night and it works by making your bladder slippery so the bacteria can't stick to the bladder walls. Cranberry juice is helpful too. Night time is best to take the Cranberry tablet as this is when the most urine sits stagnant in the bladder and the most likely time for infection to occur.
