I need your help in diagnosing a problem. My daughter is 2 and a half years old, she isn't walking yet, hardly talks, very intelligent beacuse she knows how to outsmart me, her head is big and she is very tall. She took 9 months to start to hold up her head. Doctors say developmental delay. Can someone tell me what is the condition that she has?

Ps. she was born breached and had to be held in until c section was done and has never had a seizure

Ps. she was born breached and had to be held in until c section was done and has never had a seizure would you say her head is big compared to other children her age? Have you taken her to a developmental doctor and had her head measured and the percentile she's in worked out?It sounds like more than a developmental delay. I would push to see another specialist if I was you. If she has global delays, they seem to be quite significant and you need to have physical therapy and speech therapists etc working with you to help her progress.

  • It sounds like you might benefit by taking your child to a developmental specialist. There are many different things that can cause developmental delay, and it requires an expert to diagnose usually. Even then, sometimes they can't always figure it out, but in your case, the large head and small body may be important clues...If you have already been to such a specialist, maybe you can try for another opinion at a teaching facility.I don't know what faith you are, but there's a Christian group, Joni and Friends, that offer family retreats to help families with children who are handicapped. If you Google Joni and Friends, you'll get a link to the site.Best Wishes.

  • My wife is a special needs teacher and works with therapists, etc. I will ask her opinion.
